Title 1 Information
Lueders-Avoca I.S.D. is a Schoolwide Campus, all students are eligible for Title 1 assistance.
In Lueders-Avoca Elementary/Jr High School District the Title 1 program provides supplemental instruction in reading and mathematics subject areas or any subject student needs assistance with.
Below is the criteria used for a Title 1 referral:
Students in Kindergarten through the Second grade may be served if a need is shown according to school performance, assessment or with a parent, teacher referral. The Third through Eighth grades who did not master reading or math on the STAAR, as well as students who show a need for assistance by a teacher or parent referral may be served. This can be for any curriculum subject area as needed.
The objective of the instructional program is to accelerate reading and math proficiency so students may succeed in the regular classroom setting. We are using the AR reading program, Saxon phonics and Saxon math textbooks. The incremental development and continual practice and review have shown positive progressive results. Computer assisted instruction, one on one assistance, and tutorials are some of the services provided. Dyslexia reading program is also implemented.
The computer-based instructional component provides supplemental individualized instruction in reading and math. Based on skills inventory, students are placed at a specific level and then move sequentially through the lessons.
The school also provides continuous staff development. This includes strategies in reading, math, and computer needs that are available. .
Parental involvement includes conferences, newsletters, notes, material sent home, and meetings throughout the year. Progress reports are sent out every six weeks. Report cards are being mailed to parents.
Tutorials after school is also offered and highly recommended. At the teacher’s discretion, when the student shows noticeable improvement, grades or achievement test improvement then the supplemental instruction could stop.
This is an overview of the Title 1 program at the elementary /Jr high campus.
