Safe and Secure at Lueders-Avoca ISD

Lueders-Avoca ISD, the safety of students, staff, and visitors is our top priority and we take this responsibility very seriously. Our comprehensive security program addresses prevention, intervention, student assistance, preparedness, emergency response, and building security.

Lueders-Avoca ISD routinely reviews safety and security procedures and makes adjustments when necessary. That means we’re constantly exploring new and creative ways to enhance existing security measures and adopting those policies and protocols proven to be effective in reducing risk.

It is a team effort – we rely on the continued support of students, parents and the community to keep our schools safe. We work closely with our local county sheriffs departments to coordinate prevention and response activities, perform regular security audits and provide frequent training to all employees on security issues.

Visitor Management

In an effort to maintain the safety and security of all Lueders Avoca ISD campuses, the district provides uniform procedures to both control access and manage visitors to our facilities. In an effort to better protect our campuses, front offices will not be accessible to the public without staff allowing access. All classroom doors will remain locked during school hours or while students are present in the classroom.

Process for Visitors Entering a Lueders- Avoca ISD Campus

  • Signs will direct visitors to the front office for check-in. If you are not greeted by a staff member, please ring the buzzer and staff will be notified there is a visitor.

  • Office staff will grant access to the front office for check-in.

  • Visitors will be asked to provide a valid, state/federal issued identification card, and to identify the purpose for their visit.

  • If ID and purpose meets school/site criteria, the visitor will be allowed appropriate access after receiving a visitor’s badge with the date and destination for the visit.

  • All visitors must wear their visitor's badge at all times while in the facility.

  • The visitor will be requested to return to the office to return their badge, and check out when their visit is completed.

Law Enforcement/Emergency Responders/Government Officials

Signs will direct visitors to the front office for check-in. If you are not greeted by a staff member, please ring the buzzer and staff will be notified there is a visitor.

  • Law enforcement and other first responders should bypass the sign-in process when responding to an emergency.

  • Law enforcement, first responders or other government personnel on official business should be asked to present their identification similar to other visitors.
